In this work, my intention is to capture the vibrant essence of the Limay River and the power of North Patagonian nature. I seek to portray a deep connection with the Andean environment, where the water is not merely a visual element, but the soul that brings life to the mountain landscape. The inspiration stems from the direct observation of these settings, attempting to convey the duality between the fluidity of the river and the solidity of the mountains.
My goal is for those who observe the painting to feel as if they are standing on the riverbank, sensing the freshness of the air and the texture of the Patagonian soil. Through the composition, I invite the viewer on a visual journey that begins with the vegetation in the foreground and fades into the vastness of the hills in the background. I want the experience to be tactile and sensory, where the reliefs of the paint allow one to “feel” the landscape beyond the purely visual.
My technical decisions are fundamental to achieving the expressiveness I seek in my landscapes:
- Oil: This is my primary medium, chosen for its versatility and the chromatic richness it allows.
- Impasto and Spatula: I utilize the impasto technique, applying thick layers of paint directly with a spatula. This allows me to create marked textures and physical reliefs that give volume to the work.
- Gesture and Color: I prefer a decisive and gestural stroke, using a palette that highlights the contrasts between the earth tones of the mountains and the blues of the water, capturing the characteristic luminosity of the region.
- Regional Focus: My style is defined by the representation of landscapes from the Andes and Patagonia, focusing on the raw strength of nature.
